Fascinating read, recommend it to all. It includes 11 original Somali scripts, 9 variants of the Arabic script fitted for AfSomali and the Latin script

Glad to be of service.
Dspace is a good site, has a lot of archived colonial/post colonial documents on the somali territories.

Kaddare, the best indigenous somali script as seen from the 1961 UN panel. Unique, beautiful script too!

Also a great post which most folks have ignored to reply

In case you were wondering, this was written in the 80's, University of Rome, Centre of Somali studies by Annarita Puglielli iyo Cabdalla Cumar Mansuur.

Cumar Mansuur is a student of Musse Galaal (AUN), the legend who contributed so much on Somali language studies, he wrote two books ..

Galal Muse (1968) The terminology and practice of Somali weather lore, astronomy, and astrology
Galal Muuse (1970) Stars, seasons and weather in Somali pastoral traditions

Add these terminologies to your vocabulary list.

And in the end the two scripts they believed to be the best suited for adoption by Somalis, the Latin script by Shirreh Jama, and the (modified) Kaddare script by Hussein Sheikh Ahmed

Which script looks more like GE'EZ to you?

Ge'ez script; Amharic written in GE'EZ
amharic%20(1).gif

Cismaanya script;
osmanya_qtext.gif

Kaddare script;
kad-eg2.gif

Gadabuursi script;
smp_borama.gif

Cismanya looks the closest to Ge'ez. Kaddare looks like cursive numbers and I'd probably get confused with Gadabuursi since I can see a Q,T,O,U,C,H.. I'd read them the same as english.

They are hardly similar. Look at the actual characters of the two scripts, not book excerpts.
