2016 and 2015 . Where is the results post 2018? or even 2023.

I also translated the text in in that link

This is the information i got. It doesn't seem to mention DDS or Somali region at all. But nationally for only 5.4 of Ethiopia to score a passing grade is pretty pathetic, educational system set up to make people fail.

In 2016, it was announced that 5.4 percent of students scored 50 percent or more in the 12th grade national exam. ------------------------------------------------------ The Honorable Professor Birhanu Nega, the Minister of Education, has given a press conference regarding the results of the 12th grade national examination of 2016. According to the minister, out of 674,823 students who sat for the national exam, 36,409 or 5.4 percent have passed the exam. He also said that the number of students who achieved passing results is 9,114 more than the same period last year. In this way, 28,158 or 9 percent in natural science and 8,251 or 2 percent in social science have indicated that they have achieved passing results. In the exam, 1,221 students reported that they scored high marks, which is a better result compared to the 220 marks recorded last year. Among the examinees who took the exam in the previous preparatory course in Tigray region, out of 700 in natural science, one student from Kalamino School in Tigray stated that he scored 675. At the same time, out of 600 students who took their exams this year, 575 students from Addis Ababa Axilium Cathedral School (female students) scored the highest results in social science from Addis Ababa Ethio Parents, 538 students (female students). This year, all regions and city governments have passed students better than last year, the minister said, but pointed out that 1,363 schools did not pass any students. The Honorable Minister finally mentioned that those who scored 50 percent and above will directly enter the university and said that some students will also benefit from the remedial program.

Here is the info on the somali regional state

It's because education in africa is shit. South africa which probably has the best education system. 80% of its 4th graders who can't read for meaning. Imagine the rest of the continent puntland which has better education than the other member states. Only has 33% of kids attend primary school. The other 67% are not in school at all.

It is actually 57.8 % enrollment in Puntland and 63.8% in boys based on stats from 2022.

Enrollment would be higher if school was free and affordable. Somalia had better educational system during the Kacaan period in 70s to mid 80s because it was free and affordable the enrollment levels going up, same with the completion levels and increase in female educational enrollment levels. The quality of education was way better.

It really shows you that really comes down to government and leadership.

I think thats more hyperbole. He is an educator after all, he is mentioning challenges like smart phones and kids being distracted and stuff when learning which is common problem everywhere in the world and the importance of kids going to school.

The Puntland Ministry has put out stats on primary education enrollment and this has also been confirmed by third party international orgs , there is a big hinderance in like unaffordable school fees , urban-rural disparities in access to education etc etc.

Compare that to Somalia’s students with around 90% of them passing their 12th grade exams. Ethiopia really does have 63 iq
