Congratulations to the man. 35 years old, been training by himself for the past 18 months, wasn’t even considered to be one of the favorites beforehand and now he has been rewarded with his first ever world marathon major win.

Add that to his silver Olympic medal in 2021 and he has confirmed his status as one of the great marathoners of this generation, and one of the greatest Somali athletes of all time.

He stands to earn at least a minimum of $100,000 for his exploits today. Congrats abti

Yep he gives back to people back home a lot with his foundation. He’s holding a run in December in Jigjiga with Ahmed Muhumed (US track runner) for Somalis of all regions to attend with the winner earning over 1000 dollars.
