Although in late August MPs once again threatened a vote of no confidence against him, Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khayre remains undeterred and is preparing his bid for the 2020 presidential election, for which the National Independent Electoral Commission is hoping to introduce a β€˜one person, one vote' system


According to our information, for his campaign he has turned to Yayhe Ali Hareri , the former permanent secretary of the minister of the interior Abdi Farah Said, who is now working at the Office of the Prime Minister and on 30 September registered the domain name hassankhaire2020.com. Although Khayre knows that he can rely on Qatar's support (ION 1473), his chances of acceding to the highest office in the land appear to be slim.

Khayre has no chance of becoming the president under the current system (we all know one man one vote is very unrealistic) though he is a very able leader and a good orator.

But the clan system voting block gives him no chance, one the hawiyes will will not back him at all and the daroods wont either due to Puntland and jubbaland.

This was expected. He could not go from an executive director at Soma oil and gas straight to the presidency. That is why he became the Prime Minister. Farmaajo was setting him up to run for office in 2020.

This was bound to happen from the moment he introduced himself in the somali politcial arena. He is a leader among men, a politically stud ( might overstep at times) and most importly visionary.

This one man-one vote is highly unlikely and and if that were to happen, chances of him being elected are slim. As evident somalis - just like every aspect of their lifes - tend to be bias towards their clan and given that he managed to purn bridges with HG and ABG its unlikely he will get the hawiye vote. Daarood will vote the devil himself into the office before voting him. The only chance is parlemantry vote and if he has the money then we have ourselfs a formidable, assertive, leader of a men as our next president. Its exciting times in somali politics.

When Farmaajo said his term will be about Reconciling & Uniting Somali's I kinda understood what he meant.

Kheyre is the new Somalia our President reffered to & I for one welcome the Young, Assertive, Charmismatic leader who is also a hell of a speaker.

I hope Allah makes him a just Leader, he sure is a Patriot already
