Al-shabab have taken full control of a small town called Baardheere that’s located 10km south east from east side beledweyne. Concerned local Facebook users from east beledweyne are afraid of al-shabab bombarding the eastern beledweyne side of XL with mortars!
This comes days after Al-shabab attacked another small town southeast of east beledweyne and raided military bases.
There were concerns about the lack of effort to eradicate al-shabab from the outskirts of Beledweyne earlier last year in the fight against al-shabab and unfortunately, it now seems al-shabab from the country side are closing in on the Xawaadle side of Beledweyne.
Around this time last year east beledweyne was even more surrounded and cut off by alshabab. Last year when Cali Jeyte lacking men power and support for his plans to liberate Xawaadle’s side of east hiiran went to Matabaan to seek the support of HG. He couldn’t even use the highway linking Beledweyne and Matabaan and was forced to go through Ethiopia to reach Matabaan. After securing the support of the locals in Matabaan, the villages of Bacda, Hees and Teedam were liberated by Cayr boys led by Taliye Ahmed Moolif who mounted the attack from Matabaan.
This is Galmudug minister of education Mohamed Dhoore, who along with Cayr Galmudug officials met with Jeyte when he came for Cayr’s support, reminding ungrateful Xawaadle their hero Ali Jeyte had to travel for 2 days through Ethiopia to come beg for our help in Matabaan when Xawaadle tried to sweep our helping hand under the rag and said they had no support from Hawiye.

This is taliye Ahmed Salaad Moolif 2 months prior leading the operations to liberate Teedan, Hees, and many villages in Matabaan and Maxaas. He also liberated Xawaadle villages like bacda that is located on the road between Mataban and Beledweyne, hence Jeyte’s detour through Ethiopia.
Taliye Ahmed moolif is also the brother of taliye Xuseen moolif (former gudoomiye of Guriceel & Matabaan) and is also one of the Cayr commanders from the 21st division who went to hiiran to take part of the war effort. This is him, Taliye Huruuse and Taliye Dhimbil in Yasooman last year.

Needless to say Matabaan was always where Xawaadle received help from to fight Al-shabab. In 2011 when the entire hiiran region was fully occupied by Al-shabab, with the exception of Matabaan of course, Amisom and Cayr boys under the banner of ASWJ liberated Beledweyne.
