Alindi fact

True or false?
He basically claims that the Indian wholesale of Alindi got the design wrong and not like the original thing

I think he is talking about the fabric, one being locally produced/weaved from cotton and later dyed and the other being a fabric like from abroad in India and later dyed with colours.

The design patterns are just local and variable.

Alindi as they call it, really is just white cotton fabric dyed with colours. Thats all it really is.
I am not sure about the origins of the print, but the colour pattern which was often red, yellow and black or ochre was added with natural dies to their white cotton cloth even by country side nomads with dye plants such as orcha weed and Jirmah. It has a cultural meaning in Somali culture

It's more than just slapping color on cotton.. the specific colors come from long culture and heritage of wat Somalis use to call royal colors (midab Boqor).. and then using these colors and their artistic skill in the south the created a unique somali textile

Yeah i agree, didn't meant to diminish it's meaning and work. Yes the colours and artistic patterns are rooted in longstanding traditions and culture, you can see it in the names them taking inspiration from local animals and the Somali environment. Seeing the standard as ''royal colours''. It did require a lot of skill to make and they used to export it.

I see. If they are today outsourcing it to wholesalers abroad, then they are cheating themselves tbh.
