An American (White) mother and her adopted (Somali) daughters talk about becoming a family

"As young children in their birthplace of Somalia, Fatuma and Maryan lost their parents to civil war. After a long, complicated journey, they were resettled in the U.S. and found a loving home. They talk with their adoptive mother about what it’s been like — for all of them — to become a family."

Thanks mate.

@Samaalic Era

Since you gave me qashiin on the initial post, what do you think of this story?

"Miracle Baby" From Somalia, Kenya to USA - Jonathan Hansen

This one is more reasonable and what this baby went through is horrible and very traumatic.Still, having Somali kids being raised by non Somalis who are not Muslims is something that is very sad to say the least

@Samaalic Era

Since they’re children, can’t the “god who guided” our nomadic ancestors to Islam guide these children to Islam, or the whole religion thing is based on brainwashing and they’re out of reach of his domain?

All children are the responsibility of there parents. Allah swt guides whomever he wills but that doesnt mean to neglect ones duty

@Samaalic Era

What happens when they are orphans and severely suffer from a disability or an illness and they have no one to care for them? There are tens of thousands of them back home, should they all suffer because they can’t find Muslims or Somalis to adopt them? What’s the big deal of Muslim adoption when it is Allah “who guides and misguides them”? Your last post doesn’t correlate with the first one. Nevertheless, it’s an improvement.

If there is no to care for them and there lives are at risk, then they have no choice but to be adopted however this is something that the Somali community will be punished for

dosent somalia have a no foreign adoption policy, this is illegal

@Tukraq

Which Somalia? Each clan enclave have their own President, parliament, militia, flag and constitution. These enclaves break contacts and cooperation with the SFG whenever they feel hard done by them. The SFG doesn’t even control the whole of Mogadishu and whatever they control, it came through the efforts of foreign Amisom troops. What Somalia are we talking about?

They’ve probably adopted these girls from Kenya or in Ethiopia in which adoption is legal.

@Samaalic Era

We don't see the enormity of the destruction we caused millions of Somalis including the weakest members of our society, children. That young girl in my initial post suffers from panic attacks mostly probably related to her experiences as an orphan. What a nice mum she found!!

its pretty much a rule in all of Somalia in all the federal states including SL and probably even shabab lands, Somalia has a clan system so if theres an orphan they have people to go to

@Tukraq

Do you live in a parallel universe? There are hundred's of thousands of internally displaced Somalis including thousands of orphans whose survival solely depends on foreign aid agencies. Hello Seattle.

what does internal displacement have to do with orphans:farmajoyaab:
and how does that negate my point, in Somalia orphans have a clan so can most of the time find someone to take them in or atleast bankroll them, otherwise there are orphan houses in Somalia

@Tukraq

For tens of thousands of orphaned Somali children, they’ve no immediate relatives to care for them and even when they do, they are too poor to care for them. These are the facts on the ground. Now, let’s talk about the underlying causes of their predicament and since you are a well known FKD champion, don’t you think that tribalism had contributed to their miserable conditions? Are you gonna defend clannism in your next post?

why use terms like "immediate" family when they have a clan that can collectively and do collectively fund sources to take care of them, like you mentioned above Ethiopia and Kenya have an orphan problem which is why there open to business with the west taking their kids, we are not
