Thats even worse, one company that has near economic hegemony over the market, it should be balanced.

There are hundreds if not thousands of companies running in Somalia that are independent from Hormuud. There is no one stopping you and I from starting a successfull business in Somalia today. Hormuud is just good at what they do.

What other large companies fall under Hormuud conglomerate?

Post in thread 'Hormuud and UN to resettle 1 million refugees at Jazeera'

I mentioned some of them here. You can add Telesom (Somaliland) and Golis (Puntland). They are both Hormuud’s babies but operate under different names and have different shareholders. Telesom having Somaliland shareholders while Golis having Puntland shareholders.

Companies like Hormud, Dahabshiil and Amal are successful because of the diaspora sending billions of dollars each year. They will definitely face challenges once Hooyo mataalo generation replace their parents.

I highly doubt it saxib. If Hormuud goes down then Somalia’s economy will go down with it. In the past 20 years, Hormuud Telecom and its subsidiaries Salaam Somali Bank, BECO, and Buruuj (a construction company) alone are estimated to have invested over $2.5 billion in the core infrastructure of the country, in sectors such as telecommunications, energy, finance, and construction, assuring long-term economic growth and sustainable development. In addition Hormuud provides affordable internet and mobile services to more than 80 percent of the country. Their EVC Plus service is vital to the Somali economy. They are the sole reason why Somalia is soon to become the 2nd African nation to be a cashless society.

True, they will only be vessels for corruption in the future if they arent properly divided, but for now let them stay. Congolomerates like this spanning multiple sectors is not good for any economy

Why is America and Europe doing good then? All the big companies in the west all fall under a handfull of Jewish families including the central banks.
