Arab League “extreme concern” over Ethiopia’s Nile dam

"He said Egypt receives 85% of its water from the Ethiopian highlands through the Blue Nile.

As its name suggests, GERD, set to be Africa’s biggest dam, is a project of supreme national importance to Ethiopia. Now more than half built by Italian contractor Salini Impregilo, the hydroelectric plant will have an installed capacity of 6,000 MW – more than double Ethiopia’s current generating capacity – and is central to Ethiopia’s plan to be a net power exporter to the electricity-starved continent."

Hopefully the Egyptians destroy the dam, an 85% reduction in water in not tolerable. It will also limit Ethiopian development and economic growth which is a good thing for Somalia in the long run.

What do you guys think? Is this all talk?

Couldn’t care less whether Egypt dies of thirst. But I support them in this conflict since it may lead to the destabilisation or potentially the collapse of Ethiopia.

Egypt is a country of 85 million people, losing 85%of the Nile water would be a disaster on a scale unimaginable. What did Egyptians do to you anyway? They seem to be very neutral when it comes to Somali affairs and have never wronged us as far as i know?:what1:

Didnt egypt support ethiopia in the 77 war?
If the "ummah" meant anything to these people they would have sided with us. And surely they wouldnt have this problem now bc e got the shabele rivers.

Man egypt is beginning to get on my nerves. They been talking about this issue for years and havent lifted a finger. If they really about it they need to destroyed the day they complete the construction of the dam.

I am sure if the river originated in Egypt no black African country would get any water none! In fact, the Nubians living in southern Egypt would not see a drop either, the Nubians remember what happened to them when Egypt was building their dam (Aswan Dam). They ethnically cleansed the Nubians living in the area and destroyed millions of ancient Nubian artifacts. Destroying the dam might also flood Sudani cities.

I am still inclined to side with the Arab Egyptians because the Ethiopians have done and are doing much worse to us. Once the dam is complete and Somalia begins to depend solely on Ethiopia for electricity, we are doomed. We will be a colony/state of Ethiopia in everything but name.

They won't lose 85% ... more like 10%-15% for 5 years before it goes back to normal.

Still believe it's an existential crisis for Egypt and they should bomb it immediately. :gaasdrink:
