Archaeologists Discover Earliest Greek Building Complex

"The complex of 60 marble buildings dates back 4,600 years and was discovered on a tiny mountain-peak-shaped island off the coast of the Aegean island of Keros.

Specialists began excavating the site four years ago, but it is only thanks to more detailed data analysis over the past 12 months that the true scale of the complex has been revealed.

Experts say the latest findings have “transformed” their understanding of Bronze Age culture, suggesting early Greeks were “organisationally, technically and politically” much more advanced than previously thought."

I’m not surprised. They’ve left a rich legacy behind; everything from science, to philosophy, and even their Pantheon of Gods and Goddesses and the complex stories involving them.

I used a “The Great Courses” trial to listen to all of Elizabeth Vandiver’s lectures on the Greek myths. I recommend them for anyone who’s interested. It’s a glimpse into how they understood the world.

In my opinion, their religion is unmatched in it’s richness. They were almost like people (their Gods/Goddesses), but the underlying themes of the stories dealt with the human condition in a way I haven’t seen from other religious creeds.

You could say the same thing about Norse mythology. Any mythology for that matter. People needed an explanation for why shit sucked and started imagining shit to make their life easier. Like:

Balder: "Aw shit, it's a heavy storm today, that nigga Thor is angry again!"

Brant: "I told you this was gonna happen. He's probably angry because we gave more offerings to Heimdall, and now he wants to f*ck our crops up as punishment.

Balder: "Aiight, Aiight relax. Next time we will give him more offerings, and then some. We also need his blessing for good weather when we raid in the next full moon, so we need to keep him happy.

Brant: "Yeah! Can't wait to get a hold of all that ice, and rape es with strange clothing and veils.

Balder: "Oh, most definitely, old friend!"
