Askida ekmek

If you have ever been in Turkey and walked by a bakery, you have most likely seen bread hanging on hangers outside of the store.

The procedure goes like this: you go to a bakery and buy two loafs of bread, but you only take one with you. You tell the guy selling the bread that the other loaf is "askida ekmek". Your contribution is put in a bag and on a hanger outside of the bakery for the poor to take.

This tradition stems from Ottoman times. A truly beautiful habit and tradition. We need more of this in everyday life.

GEELJIRE WITH NO GEEL
I've seen it before, and I always assumed it was for sale. Never understood why they'd let it go stale in the cold, but now it kind of makes sense.
