Mogadishu - African Union soldiers killed 11 civilians in two separate incidents over the weekend, Somalia residents told The Associated Press on Monday.

Traditional elder Mohamed Hassan said the first occurred when troops opened fire on a minibus in Qoryooley town in Lower Shabelle region on Sunday. All six passengers were killed, he said.

The African Union Mission for Somalia said it was investigating "the unfortunate incident in Qoryooley where civilians lost their lives in an attack."

The force also said on Twitter that it will issue a statement on the other "allegations."

In a separate incident, residents in Marka town said an AU armored vehicle smashed into a home, killing a mother and four children. Resident Ahmed Sheikh Ali said the crash occurred after a bomb attack targeted an army convoy.

Somali officials were not available for comment Monday.

Thousands of African Union troops are in Somalia to bolster the country's weak government, which is facing an insurgency from the homegrown al-Shabaab extremist group that is linked to al-Qaeda.

AUN for the poor people. They can fight back by changing their leaders but reer Mogadishu welcomed and cheered for sheikh sharif the Kenyan traitor !!!!

I see the blood shed, but immediately noticed the fruits and veggies.

Wow, we can Agro our way out of Al-Shabab

I noticed it too, I also noticed that the Shabab strongholds on the map are the more lush regions on the country. not only are they destroying lives but the agriculture sector. and AMISOM didn't target a bus full of produce by any accident either. these people just wanted to go about there day when they get attacked by these predators! Allah yarhamahum

I'm certain nobody shoots anybody for any reason.

Don't be fooled, not everyone is innocent in Somalia. Anyone who has a better alternative for Amisom other than our half/Nuuf military than it would have been done.

In Shabelle, Amisom is needed by farmers to help move finished Agro out of the region. Al-Shabab just taxes truck drivers and that's all. But, nobody is showing the countless freight liners stocked with produce hitting road side bombs on the way to market.

There's things I agree they are messing up without ramification, but calling every single soldier a looter, killer and rapist is completely irrational.

Last week aljazeera news was reporting about qandala, and the reporter asked how could PL defeat ISIS without any help of amisom!!!

Don't listen to reporters especially in Somalia.

More people died from car accidents, expired Pharma goods and tetanus cuts than Al-Shabab attacks.

Somali reporters do not follow international journalist ethics. Global journalism came into questions every since the Rwandan Genoicide.

Amisom is part of the solution in Somalia; Amisom isn't the problem--we are.

@Canuck I can send you pictures of ripe Agro products in Somalia and people are saying we have famine.

Just look at that vehicle.

What do you see other than destruction? There's a solution hiding in plain sight.

Onions, mangoes, tomatoes and sorghum.

Jubbaland can eliminate famine. But nobody wants to do it because it costs money. Politicians want Aid money instead of building an industry.

Amisom is part of the problem, how are we the problem? are we blowing innocent civilians to smithereens? listen, there are no people on this earth who will do good for you because of their altruism. What do you think about the fact that they get paid more in Somalia than in their own country? Do you think they'd rid of Shabab, risk their lives and lose their pay check? :pacspit:

This is when you do not heed your creators words when he told Muslims " do not take kuffar as awliyaa" BECAUSE they are protectors, allies and friends to one another.

Do you know how much money it costs per day to have Amisom? It's in the millions per day. Soldiers have no say in war. But someone is paying and costs are starting to get cut.

Okay what's a better solution?

Because every Somali thinks Amisom wants Al-shabab to stay but when Ugandan forces haven't been paid in 6 months what do you expect?

Hirshabelle alone can feed the entire Somali population in the horn of africa and there would produce still left for international trade.

Afgoye/Jowhar are blessed lands that has been the backbone of Somalia. With Jubbaland and Hirshabelle liberated from cuqdad ridden militias and terrorists, somalia should be self sufficient. Add the long blessed coastline, then Somalis have no right to starve themselves to death.

The better solution would be to pay Somali soldiers to do it, they have more incentive to do it, and it would decrease unemployment. But of course that's not going to happen
