I’m not sure about the frequency back home but the diaspora, particularly among those residing in colder climates, display pre-natal vitamin D deficiency.
Our modern Somali diet isn’t enough to supplement the vitamin D deficiency and compounded with the jilbaab use…the perfect recipe for autism. Our culture doesn’t encourage us to exercise, go out to take in sunlight, or take vitamins. Our culture needs to start valuing health tbh.
Nothing about the state of modern day Somalis is close to how formidable and healthy our ancestors used to be. It’s remarkable.
