Can someone confirm if the values are in CAD or US$, because I have a hard time to believe the median salary of Canadians is only 41,000 CAD

What a lot of Americans don't realize is that we are a lot wealthier than other western countries. Salaries that we consider low are considered average or even above average countries like Canada. The poorest 20% of Americans are wealthier than the average person in most western countries.

Other countries have more government benefits though, so that kind of balances things out.

Its in CAD. The number is skewed due to the millions that don't work or work part time (i.e., the figures include all tax filers). You have to file your taxes in order to get federal government handouts. 40% of tax filing Canadians don't pay any income tax. 20% of households pay 70% of the taxes. Canada is a welfare nation, turbocharged by Trudeau.

I always thought of canada as a wealthy nation since many Europeans dream to relocate there.

Canadians are very wealthy, those numbers are skewed by the underdeveloped provinces like Yukon, NWT, etc

Look at the mean incomes in Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, Edmonton, Calgary. Those are where people truly are.

Before Trudameer, Canadians actually made more income than Americans, paid less taxes than Americans, got more in services like universal health care, and towards the end of that era, had a higher GDP per capita. Unfortunately, our economy is in trouble and our GDP per capita is decreasing every year since COVID because of bad Trudeau policies, like importing more international students (low wage workers) than even the US has. We also have another 1 million foreign workers.

Canada was amazing pre-2015. We will come back to our former glory after Blackface is out of office, which he will be soon and he will face a humiliating defeat according to polling.

Those provinces are underpoppulated anyway. 90% of Canadians live in Ontario, Quebec, British Columbia and Alberta.

@Hybrid did you know you can make over $50K tax free income in Canada if you're a single mom with 3-4 kids? That money doesn't even go towards housing costs since the government pays for that. The only reason why they live in the ghetto and can't buy a house is because banks require income; caydh is not considered income. Canada is great for single moms or lazy people who make excuses to dawlada why they can't get a job. This will be a problem that will be corrected very shortly.

@Hybrid() Somalis in Alberta and Ontario are very different due the governments that rule them. The former live under constant conservative rule and there are very limited handouts. I believe you will die in Alberta if you don't work or have family support. This created a very hardworking Somali community there. The latter live in a socialist hellscape who rotate in who rules: two leftist parties in practice and ideology but have misleading party names.

This only applies to Somalis in Ontario who live in socialized housing. If you live in Ontario, live in the economy and don't work you will starve. Housing and rent is far more expensive in Ontario compared to Alberta.

Alberta is also a shithole compared to Ontario in every way though from healthcare to infrastructure. Ontario is the only province in Canada that could survive as a separate nation.

Their health care and infrastructure is much better than ours. I used to live there and I have visited many times. I'm trying to move there or Quebec. Ontario sucks. You need to visit other parts of the country. It's not a place to raise your children anymore post-2020.

Ontario is superior, I currently live in Montreal. The healthcare is on the verge of collpase. the infrastructure is inferior to Ontario and is quite apparent on the road once you cross the border. The education system is so bad that they are at the point of hiring unqualified teachers en masse. Quebec govt is also extremely hostile to Anglophones.

Ontario is the best place in Canada, housing just needs to be fixed and the federal govt needs to stop these Hindi mass-migrating here via various frauds. Quebec is better in keeping hindi oit cause these Hindi can't learn French so they have very small prescense here in the province and Quebec controls it's own immigration policy. They only let in 60k immigrants per year which is why Quebec is much more affordable. If you don't speak French stay in Alberta nigga

If you only consider full-time workers in Canada it's much higher, if you exclude Quebec and only look at Alberta, Ontario, Saskatchewan, BC. About ~28-30% of non-seasonal, full-time working men make > $100K. For women, I think it was 18-19%.

Honestly, if you're a citizen, clean up well, and can hold a conversation long enough to interview every few years you should be able to make at least $70k in Canada, you'll probably need dual-income though to live comfortably off that.

Source (Missing 2022 data which when there were big jumps in incomes amongst white-collar workers, so this might be an underestimate):
