Bari region vs Bari city Italy

I found out there's a city called Bari in Italy, and then there's the Bari region in Somalia, then I started to wonder if the Italians named the region after the Italian city during the colonial times.. But I have no facts of this being the case, do any of you know what the relation is or is it just a coincidence?

No, that is not good for the narrative, Somalia is an italian creation, even the name is Italian, matter of facts, the italians came to east africa during Abyssinia x Adal wars and implemented this word in both Adal and Abyssinian records, they planted this word here.

How they plant it unless u got a word for east as we know the word for south, north, west but don't have for east lol 🤔

Lots of languages share similar words doesn't mean it has anything to do with each other.

Yes, it is a known fact Bari means 'House' in Latin, and is a borrowed term.

Bari means not only East but also the place where the sun comes out, hence the easternmost province in Somalia is called Bari. It is a shortened form of the word ‘Waa-Bari’ or ‘Waaq-Bari’ meaning the place where waaq comes out, ie sun rises in the east. ‘Galbeed’ by comparison means ‘entering’ or where the Sun sets, ie West. ‘Waqooyi’ means ‘Waaq-hoygi’ ie where waaq resides, the north, or the sky. These are all terms with a long history and tradition in Somali and Cushitic culture.

The Italian ‘Bari’ isn’t pronounced the same. It is pronounced ‘Baari’ with an emphasis on the A and doesn’t have the same meaning.

bari بَرِيْ ( short vowel ) in Somali means east.
bari [ˈbri] بَارِيْ PRONOUNCED : " baari " with ( long vowel ) .

The name "Barium" was the ancient Latin name for the city of Bari, Italy. The name "Barium" may come from the Messapic language word for "house", or from the ancient Greek word barion, which also means "home".

Later, the city was called Barë by Illyrians, which became “Barion” under the Greek domination and “Barium” under the Roman one.

Messapic ( Albanoid language ) is an extinct language considered the closest to Albanian.
Both languages are grouped in the Illyric branch .

Thus, if Bari means house in the Messapic language (closer to the Albanian language), Albanians have a high frequency of haplogroup E1b1b " E-V13 " and Afro-Asian populations are characterized by high frequencies of Y-DNA haplogroup E1b1b.
