Be Wary of “Plausible Deniability” Preachers
By Bassam ZawadiBe wary of those “plausible deniability” preachers. Those who frequently speak ambiguously, so much so that when you call them out on something controversial they said, they always conveniently have enough wiggle room to deny what you accused them of. They are those who typically speak unclearly so that they can appeal to everyone. When asked to clarify, they ensure that they only clarify in a particular manner to a particular audience so that their “other listeners” do not get disappointed by their clarification.
People who confuse others with their speech have no business teaching. It is the teacher’s job to teach clearly and not the job of students and listeners to continuously have the burden of presuming the “best possible meaning” to make sense out of that teacher’s equivocal speech.
Be wary of them, for they are either bad teachers at best or dishonest preachers with a corrupt agenda at worst.
