Now UAE is about to build larger, more advanced facility in Berbera, with unmonitored military port where they can ship whatever they want. In exchange, UAE operatives export tons of, among other things, sand and rocks. UAE is not willing to use their own sand For environmental reasons. Berbera area will suffer sand dredging. Building artificial islands in UAE requires large amount of sand and rocks. Existing islands require continuos replacing of sands lost to erosion of course UAE would not use their own sand.
