Borana garre relationship

Does any one know how the garre came to speak this language? And the historical relationship between the borana and garre people. It is rumoured that some hawiye tribes have been assimilated into the Oromo primarily the gugundhabe. No clan bashing/FKD please

Historical records have documented the Garre (gurreh) as being a galla tribe in the late 1800s.

Boraan conquered and ruled over them for two centuries

Its just proximity to the Borana, they are Somali. There are Garre within Somalia proper, Lower Shabelle who dont speak that language as far as I know. Speaking another language doesnt take away your Somalinimo. You guys need to stop doing that.

Interesting do you mind if you attach links to these sources. Do you have any sources that mention the supposed garre presence in places as far off as chad and Sudan?

What do you mean they don't speak that language? They speak that language as well as being fluent in Borana. Any Garre in NFD will tell you this. A lot of Garre became Oromo over the centuries and don't align with Somalis. "Somalinimo" doesn't exist among the Garre, only when Borana attack them

The Garre are Irir Samaale in origin but they align with Oromos politically and culturally. They've adopted Oromo farming techniques and most of them are able to speak fluent af Borana. They've been facing Oromo absorption for decades now but they still hold down Moyale.

They fight with Degodia in Ethiopia but their main enemies in Moyale are Borana. In one raid these couple years I remember 50 Garre were killed at once by Boranas. Yet, they're close to them. I know Garre diaspora that speak Borana as a first language.

Someone told me that Garre were originally oromos that worked under the landheere Borana, they only became Somali after Somalis introduced Islam to them (this is not facts, but oral history that could be fake)

Only the quranyow subclan of Garre claim Dir, the rest claim Gardhere Samaale (there are prolly some that claim borana too, due to being isolated from other Somalis)
