I think this was going to happen sooner or later regardless of Elon's chinpout.
Now that Republicans are in office the media is going to pay much closer to attention to the wignat/far-right scene to make Trump look bad by "association", and put pressure on censoring them
A recent example of this was the "your body my choice" tweet from Nick fuentes that went mega-viral at 100 million views. I'm positive it wouldn't have gained that much traffic or any media coverage for that matter if it wasn't near the election.
