Reports reaching us from Galkayo indicate that Galmudug forces have taken a base from Puntland troops following a fierce battle on Saturday morning.
Eyewitnesses have confirmed to Radio Shabelle that Puntland forces were driven out of their main checkpoint in southern Galkayo by Galmudug troops during the confrontation.
The fighting is ongoing near Cagaarweyne hotel which lies at the northern site of Galkayo town, according to the witnesses in the area both sides are using heavy weaponry.
