Flooding greatly affects farmers in Somalia so this is great news. Beledweyne as well as 20+ villages under Jowhar city are currently experiencing floodings which disrupts the harvesting of crops. The revival of the Sabuun dam located in the outskirts of Jowhar built during the Kacaan era. Alot of work ongoing in Middle Shabelle between the 2 main roads coming out of Banaadir and now this dam waa kheyr batay

This project costs $140 million project and is named Jowhar Offstream Storage Programme (JOSP). Probably the largest large scale infrastructure project that is taking place in Somalia after the civil war began in 1991. Journey to food security and less dependence on food imports.

This project honestly needs to hurry up. This alone could be a significant leap to food security. Hopefully the amount of $160 million can be accounted for and anti corruption measures put in place.

That good investment and we should copy the Eritrean dams project where they build 700 dry dam and this reduced the draught impact on the Eritrean population. @EritreanPost_ Somalia shouldn’t only have military agreements with Eritrea they should also include in helping with dam projects.

Decades on Kacaan infrastructure is still holding up although barely even without repair and maintenance. Good on reer HS for fixing this thing and may it come to benefit them many time over
