It's a pretty dumb piece he is detailing killings by al Shabaab but there's been far less casualties than when Faroole was president. Garowe Online is owned by Faroole's son so I don't think he has a leg to stand on. The problem with Somali opinion pieces is that they can't keep their emotions out of it and focus on the facts but I guess it wouldn't be an opinion piece then.

The writer can't write semi-autonomous. Apparently he has a major masters degree in peace. Dafuq is a major m.a. :mjkkk:

My dad met the guy who owns garowe online, I think he lives in east Australia. The article was simple and didn't really go into detail to why mass corruption occurs.Corruption will decrease after a democratic region in Puntland can be formed.

For many hoping for the fall of Puntland they must understand that Puntland will be the place in which Somalia rebuilds herself. An increasingly educated populace along with a push to democratise will force corruption to drop. This will inturn be exported across Somalia

Personally I was optimistic about Somalia due to my ignorance, the level of destruction in Somalia goes beyond the visual. Rather it flows through all institutions , the experiment called Somalia has been hijacked by foreigners.Kheyre , farmaajo etc wont change Somalia as the whole system is run on a foreign system which rewards corruption and punishes righteousness.

For all the rightly held criticisms of Puntland , it will improve Somalia as a whole. That said the balkanisation of Somalia is destroying Somalia , however we have no choice. All other states are quasi dictatorships excluding the secessionists. I just hope the elections will be undertaken in Puntland successfully.

Exactly, often they are political and backed by major stake holders.Independant journalism is punished and thus the reason somali journalism is often rudimentary.
