British Muslims exodus

Report talks about the risk of a brain drain by British Muslim middle class. They are 65% more likely to leave relative to the average Brit (while the avg British Muslim is 50% more likely to leave).

Its recommendation are all govt policies, which I disagree with. Change will not happen within the system, there is disdain and a lack of trust within it as there is a constant feeling of ulterior motive.

Wealthy Muslims always flocked to UAE, however now that middle-class British Muslims are genuinely considering it, it is worrying times for the British Muslim community. The brain drain of intellectuals, professionals and entrepreneurs will deteriorate Muslim presence in British places of significance and while there are some obvious sell-outs (esp politicians), a lot of these middle-class are principled and have ambition so it really is a potential crisis.

I attended a British Muslim leadership event held by Oxford University a while back with so many of the speakers were Muslims within different professions who remained principled to their religion, great orators and had expertise. That is far greater brain drain than those with knowledge leaving developing nations to developed world imo given we are so reliant on them to uphold our Deen within those spaces and to fight back against British institutional racism that goes under the radar.

I hate to be a doomer but unlike the American counterparts who had a significant impact on the US elections, the British Muslim community is in deep crisis with its political power already weak but its economic power going to be drained.

What is the future for British Muslims?

You can move to dubai and pay zero taxes and not deal with the raising islamophobia because 70% of adults here don't have £500 in their account or savings. 4 million+ go to food banks while working a full time job. In 2010 us was only 100k

They don't even blame the conservative economy built in the last 14 years or brexit accelerating this issue but immigrated and Muslims

British Muslims are a bunch of useless slaves and they have proved that to the world every step of the way. hope Starmer grabs them and throw them into Russia at least.

That donkey 🫏 Keir Starmer doesn't have any Muslims in his top cabinet positions.
Brown places in high places (i.e. Tory cabinet post Brexit was one of the most diverse). Pretty much every Muslim MP voted for pro-gay rights - although that might change now with the rise in independents but mainstream Muslims politicians are the epitome of what the secular state wants: Keep your religious belief at home and locked away from society and your work, which means absolute compromise given law & societal order is a moral issue and every moral issue is an religious question.

This is pretty misleading to say 65% when its people who have looked for Jobs abroad or researched destinations, but only 15% have actually secured work abroad or arranged housing.

What it does reveal is that many have future aspirations and plans to leave, there is not really a wide gap between affluent Muslims and the rest in expressing this. I also don't think this is a new trend.

There is no mass exodus, in reality. ''I want'' is different from ''I do'', the actually people leaving are much smaller pool than the ones expressing these aspirations.

I said: *They are 65% more likely to leave relative to the average Brit* - as in, there is a propensity for them to leave, not that they are actively leaving. It is still a bleak sign, a decade ago this general sentiment wasn't there, there is definitely a shift in the discourse on "where to reside". It could be down to the combination of CoL, Gaza, LGBT, general decline in UK economy/lifestyle.

Yes the title is sensational, but my commentary wasn't. I do think this is a new trend. Before, unlike American Muslims, British Muslims had to prove their Britishness and really mould their identity and cultural imprint - we had to prove our Britishness as Muslims which meant fighting (figuratively) to show we belong and we will stay here. While today, like the report states, the topic of migration/Hijrah is on most our lips, even if it isn't done by most, the mere fact that most have an interest is a telling sign.
