Man fatally shot in East York ID'd

Mohamed Abdulkadir Ali, 28, was fatally shot on Saturday, March 18, 2017 on Meighen Ave.

A 28-year-old Toronto man is dead after he was rushed to hospital with a gunshot wound Saturday night.

Toronto Police identified him as Mohamed Abdulkadir Ali. His death marks the 13th homicide of 2017.

Police said calls came in around 9 p.m. Saturday for the sound of gunshots in the Meighen-Victoria Park Ave. neighbourhood.

Const. Allyson Douglas-Cook said callers reported someone was injured and lying on the ground outside an address on Meighen Ave.

When officers responded, they found a man with at least one gunshot wound as well as obvious signs of trauma to his body.

“He was rushed to hospital and he succumbed to injuries at hospital,” Douglas-Cook said.

There is no suspect information at this time. Homicide investigators have taken over the case
