Can hot showers cause burns?

I definitely get red after hot showers. I don’t know why I get burned every time. I think all of us light skins suffer from the same problem. Do the rest of you darker toned folk notice any red marks after bathing with hot showers? This question doesn’t concern those from the UK. They don’t even have hot water at all like the third world.
