Unfortunately, many Muslims suffer from an inferiority complex and view modernity as the only hope to revive the Ummah. Western civilisation has taken a path which is based on materialism, exploitation, and individualism. Its foundations are built on rejecting the divine and promoting the supremacy of the human being over all things, which leads to the destruction of spiritual values and moral guidance. The freedom offered by modernity is merely a license to do whatever one desires, without regard for the laws of Allah.
