That's old style Cyrillic alphabet used for Slavic languages like Russia, Ukranian, Bulgarian etc.
Cyrillic alphabet was invited by two Greek monks in the middle ages to teach slavs the bible in their own language, it's a Greek derived alphabet and has no relation with Ge'ez.
The icon is of Zar Nicholas of Russia who was killed and overthrown by the communist revolution in 1917
BUT. There some African alphabets that may look similar to that especially the old Nubian and the Coptic alphabet which are both also adaptation of the Greek alphabet.
