Can the average person stay afloat in a world without God.

I think its ridiculous to expect that in a world without religion or traditional structures people would be living fulfilling lives full of purpose and merit. I think there are exceptions to the rule where a person can create a fulfilling life without religion or traditional values but i don't think that is the case for the average person.

Especially in this world of super marketing to cater to every vice; Synthetic chemicals that make food hyper-additive, supernormal stimulus at the finger tips to cater to the users every sexual desire, social media algorithms that were molded by the best computer scientists and psychologist to prolong engagement, Fashion/Makeup industries giving out insecurities to providing the "cure" and more.

To think that the average person will be like a monk in the center of Las Vegas is naive.

I think it's a good foundation for one's moral principles. However a lot of what you're describing is a result of unbriddled capitalism. The things you describe are happening in even the most religious societies like the Gulf, morroco, the vatican etc

What is your purpose in life? Don't know just be happy and enjoy yourself, if life gets to you just take these pills or drown yourself in alcohol and at worst well just end it with suicide
What happens after you die? Nothing we are just going to be food for the worms.


Islam is a blessing and the most rational path as Allah says in the Quran

35. Were they created by nothing, or were they themselves the creators?

Is he who was dead (without Faith by ignorance and disbelief) and We gave him life (by knowledge and Faith) and set for him a light (of Belief) whereby he can walk amongst men, like him who is in the darkness (of disbelief, polytheism and hypocrisy) from which he can never come out? Thus it is made fair-seeming to the disbelievers that which they used to do.

An individual can but a society cannot function without God and we can see that now. The foundational morals religion used to give to people have been replaced with capitalistic morals where the public good is no longer considered. For example, fruits are becoming less nutritious because farmers are opting for genes that allow for a longer shelf life so that they can make more profits. That’s just one niche example, multiply it by 1000x when it comes to the effects on family, income disparity and the redistribution of wealth etc…

Suuratul qalam 36-40

مَا لَكُمْ كَيْفَ تَحْكُمُونَ أَمْ لَكُمْ كِتَـٰبٌۭ فِيهِ تَدْرُسُونَ إِنَّ لَكُمْ فِيهِ لَمَا تَخَيَّرُونَ أَمْ لَكُمْ أَيْمَـٰنٌ عَلَيْنَا بَـٰلِغَةٌ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ ۙ إِنَّ لَكُمْ لَمَا تَحْكُمُونَ سَلْهُمْ أَيُّهُم بِذَٰلِكَ زَعِيمٌ​

What is with you? How do you judge? Or do you have a book in which you learn that indeed for you is whatever you choose in it? Or do you have oaths upon Us extending until the Day of Resurrection that indeed for you is whatever you judge? Ask them which of them, for that [claim], is responsible.
