They want us to change sides I bet. Technically Somaliland didn't recognise Taiwan but decided to set up relations on an unofficial basis just like how SL cooperates with Ethiopia, Djibouti, Western countries etc
They don't care about Somali, Somaliland, Puntland or any other autonomous region.
All they see is a bunch of mentally inferior Negros who all hate each other and will side with a foreign invader before they help each other. If they could sell us they would, don't think two ways about it.
Somalia occupies valuable real estate in the Red Sea Region.
All these foreign actors buying up our ports are doing it to gain control in the gulf of Aden. Not to help Somaliland with independence, or rebuild Somalia. No one is going to do that but ourselves.
Turkey is in Somalia to colonise, so is UAE, Qatar, China, and other nations operating in the region.
Take west Africa as an example, in the old days foreign forces would build a Fort on the occupied lands where their goods can enter and exit, and their traders can do business with the local people. If business was successful, the Fort would get bigger to support more people. That is how big costal cities came about.
These occuping force would also build military outposts in order to control traffic in their sea.
So another invading force couldn't just turn up and try and compete with them.
Europeans colonised us and robbed us of a lot of wealth, now the Asians want their turn. The Asians have an advantage over the Europeans this time. They know who occupies what in Africa and how to turn them against each other, they are using the European blueprint, but this time they know what mistakes not to make.

Somaliland does not make any diplomatic or political moves because its irrelevant. The only time it becomes relevant is when outsiders want to apply pressure on the central government in Mogadishu.
