What was their reason for going to war here? What exactly was the Arab Spring? So they wanted democracy and this time the West wasn't OK with democracy so the protestors became rebels and Syria got destroyed?

Islam doesn't oblige us to care about secular Arab or non-Arab governments, but obliges us to care about our brothers/sisters in Islam. The sufferings you see in above pictures was done by the secular Syrian government, along with the Russian and Western collaborations.
