We have ours on tuesday. It's not in a pub bar, but some fancy restaurant. It's will start 3pm, it's either going or staying at the office. Not a fair choice

I don't eat haram meat nor drink. Yesterday we had an informal drinks with the young staff members in some obscure cafe. I did participate in it. I can open up and have fun without alcohol, but whites need alcohol to open up. I don't party for new year.

The one that is not present is always gossiped about, so that's why I always attend their gatherings.

Yeah in an office politics is unreal and petty. I don't party new years either. I mean once it was all fun and good but at 24 there's only so much puking you can take.

Our company had an annual offsite Christmas Party that you have to RSVP to with the option of bringing a +1 yesterday. I didn't go.

They still gave everyone a wrapped Sparkling Apple Cider and two wine glasses as a gift. I thought the presentation was cool, but apparently I've been under a rock cuz it's common.

I might pick up a shift on Christmas day for time +1/2 pay. They cater an additional meal for ppl working on Christmas day too.

I work at a hospital, hardly fancy lol. But it's a good system. The Sparkling Cider was a departmental gift, but the parties and catering are system wide; tons of hospitals that are under one leadership.

On Thanksgiving they gave anyone who worked full-time for the year $300 as a Thank You gift, last year it was $500 but it's tax deductible (which tons of ppl bypass by exempting themselves from taxes for that paycheck in just a few clicks ).

same. safer environment with people i actually want to be around. usually get to catch up with people i haven't seen in a while which is why i want something for new years to be planned out sooner rather than later

but i do still like going out to dinner before anything around 6-ish
