There probably was at least a large confederation of city states. So many decent sized trading cities in the Somali coast particularly the North as well as foriegners mentioning a kingdom in the region such as the Chinese texts in the 900s talking about the Samalan kingdom with its capital of Zelia which we still don't know about and only learned about after a Somali guy went through Chinese archives and translated them recently.Deviating from this topic a little, do you think that with archaeological research we can discover an ancient kingdom in the north with Aksum at that time?
