In 1984 there was a offshore drilling in two wells one in Bandar Harshau-1 and the other in Dab-Qua, Sanaag by Shell. There was no oil found in those two wells despite the area having very likelihood for oil shows. Guess they didn't get lucky with those two wells.

Bandar Xarshaw aka Xarshaw is settled by the Sacad Yoonis community.

This is why people shouldn't celebrate early. Even though xarshaw showed a potential of having off-shore oil they didn't find it when they drilled the wells. We can't confirm the offshore oil if they haven't drilled the wells yet.

It took Saudi Arabia 20 and numerous failed drilling before they found oil. Harshau well was drilled only once.

It takes multiple wells to find oil (Somalia has barely any oil wells drilled) even Saudi Arabia had to drill many wells before striking oil. The problem with Somalis is they think if you don’t find oil in one well... the country or region has no oil which is completely false.

Yep. Those companies were going to continue to drill however the civil war broke out.

What I'm saying is let us wait until they find oil. We know there is potential so we should be patient and wait.

In most cases it is when not if. Those big companies like Shell showed interest in those areas not randomly but backed by data.

Bandar-Harshau-1 well had minor oil and gas shows. Most of the big oil companies already have a lot of data on the north from the mid 80s. It should be easy to pick it off where they left before the civil war.

The strategic value of oil will decline as the industrialized countries decarbonize their economies. Even if large quantities of oil are found, the 15 years or so it would take to fully develop the resource; contains too much risk for any company to seriously consider investing a lot of capital long term. It is entirely possible that in 15 years, all new vehicles will be electric, destroying much of the demand that the current oil price is based on. I find it hard to believe that Somalia will ever become an oil producer.
