Unreal. What do you think they want from the place? It doesn't have any natural resources I can think of. Unless you count biodiversity as a resource

There are some Somali fishermen and tradesmen that live there. Not many and most are just temporary visitors.

The African minorities on that island are mostly Zanji former slaves from the Swahili coast. They live alongside the Soqotri natives and mainland Yemenis of Socotra. The island is also popular with European tourists.
