We might have the highest % autosomal ancestry of those early migrants from NE Sudan? Not sure about the Saho in Eritrea who are EV22, maybe they have pretty high as well? They don't have much omotic ancestry either I think and little J

It is probably highest in Somalis and Afars, but neither are 100% Cushitic.

Sahos, despite their high E-V22, are mixed with Habeshas (probably through women) more than Afars because they live closer to Habeshas.

I see! Is there a reason why somalis never mixed with habesha or others significantly in the past as much? Seems like most people in the HOA ("Cushitic people including semitic speaking Cushitics") are hard to tell apart except for somalis.

You guys need to be more specific when specifying hunter gatherers because all Africans who lived south of the Sahara desert were all hunter gatherers. Hunter gatherers from the horn or Ethiopia were the ancestors of all Nilo-Saharan speakers and most likely had similar build and phenotypes as other Nilo-Saharan ethnic groups.

It is not the same as the one found in Ethiopians. There exists a sequenced Ethiopian hunter-gatherer from the central parts of Ethiopia and it is a terrible fit for Somali HG ancestry.

Anthropologists often say Africa is the most genetically diverse continent, when they say this, they are usually referring to the hunter-gatherer populations as those have 10x the genetic diversity of agriculture groups.

Hunter-gatherers in pre-Neolithic Europe vs hunter-gatherers in the Caucasus of the same time period before the Neolithic had as much genetic distance between them as modern Europeans and modern Han Chinese do between each other.

Interesting. Hunter gatherers don't replicate as much as neolithic people and can be isolated in a small region for 1000s of years as long as their food supply isn't affected. It makes perfect sense

A lot of genetic diversity was lost globally due to the Neolithic as agriculture made a small group of relatively closely related expand massively and drive out HGs.

For the Horn, the Cushites with agropastoralism changed the scene. For Europe it first was the Levantine farmers and then later on the Western Steppe horse riding Indo-Europeans, and for East Asia it was a variety of rice farming people etc.
