Couldn’t agree more, the FGS could easily sanction these companies within the country. As well as withdraw their operating licenses, which in turn would cost them billions, if not hundreds of billions of dollars of revenue. I’m quite certain Somalia is their biggest market. That is if the government is willing to do so, their incompetence meet no bounds unfortunately.

As @Sup and @Pastoralist summarized, the FGS has the means to penalize non-compliant companies. However, remittances are essential for many back home, and unlike foreign airlines, this issue directly affects the daily livelihoods of ordinary people.

The Somali government understands the SL regime's stubbornness and the potential impact on its citizens. They are likely handling this issue cautiously to avoid harming Somaliland's people.

It's either that and an appropriate actionable response is on the way, or the people at CBS and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry who issued the notice are incompetent.

And? My point still stands. Again, It's not a baseless prediction but a fact. If it comes to it, they can ban those companies from remitting payments to all of Somalia. A lot of them are registered in Western countries, and it's easy to get through with the appropriate channels. It's a heavily regulated industry; don't fool yourself.

This is very weird, practically Somaliland functions as an independent country, it just hasn't been recognised yet, and nobody believes it will ever join Somalia again. So it's better for the 2 governments to make truce instead of continuing to sour relations until one day cooperation is impossible. This part of the world is a hopeless place...
