In this thread I’ll debunk the Ethiopian it’s lie that the Ottomans played any part in the Ethiopian Adal War or that the Ethiopians lost due to lack of armaments or any other technological difference. The truth is that this is all fanciful Ethiopianist cope, Ethiopians historically had far more help than Adal.
Emperor Yeshaq I of Abyssinia was the first to ever posses firepower in horn african history, given by turks from egypt, these same Muslim turks trained his army and reorganised it

Now lets fast forward to the 16th century, before the conquest of Abyssinia Lebna Dengel was already acquiring firearms from Turks again, he used those firearms to put an end to the 24 years long conquest in Abyssinia that Imam Mahfuz was leading
Leo Africanus in 1526 right before the war puts the number of cannons possessed by the Ethiopians at 14 Iron Pieces which they had purchased from the Turks. Africanus cites this information from Francisco Alvarez, a Portoguese missionary and explorer who personally stayed in the emperors court.
The Futuh also mentions 8 cannons belonging to the Christians which they abandoned during their retreat from Dawaro
Ottomans were very new in the region having only conquered Yemen in 1538 after Ahmed had already conquered the entirety of Abyssinia, the government in Constantinople probably wasn’t even aware of what was going on there.
The so called Turks mentioned by European sources are in fact most likely Yemenis from Aden and Zabid who were erroneously referred to as Turks.
