At 18:33 it says that North Africa and Nubia (Sudan) got hit with the Black Death around the same time as Europe and Asia did through the Silk Road, did this have any impact on the Horn or West Africa? Did they catch the plague like everyone else through trade or did the Sahara Desert block it off?

Yes it was the fall of the great kushite empire that lasted from 1128–1353.

Its borders went from uganda to mali to somalia to sudan.

Some said it was the true heir to the roman empire.

The Mongol biological weapon known as the Bubonic Plague did not reach the pristine shores of the country of Zayla and Mogadishu.

Some scholars had postulated Justinian's plague (nearly a thousand years before the Mongol plague) was brought to the Roman realm via merchants from the horn.

Yeah it came up through the Red Sea trade routes to Egypt and spread all over the Mediterranean from there. The mass deaths that took place afterwards help the Muslims take over the former Roman territories.

Thankfully genetic evidence basically confirmed it entered Europe with Huns/Xiongnu

The plague hit Egypt first tho? How could it come to Europe through the Turkic nomads?

Perhaps a merchant ship from Azov/Crimea dropped a shit ton of infected rats there?

Egypt was the most densely populated part of the empire, so propagation should be faster

Imagine if the Justinian plague was found to actually be from the Red Sea, that would mean we finished off 15-100 mil of the Roman empire’s population & put one of the nails in their coffin
