It's my birthday in a couple of weeks.

All I usually do on my birthday is sit at home and watch football in the afternoon and go out for a dinner later with girlffiend/friends/sisters or whoever else, and get the obligatory "odey baad noqotey" remark from my dad.

Na. I even forgot it was my birthday last year before I started getting texts. I don't really care. Plus I always catch a flu that week lol

Growing up, no one remembered by birthday because it was at the end of the school year, looool. I would sometimes get cake and that's about it. But this year, my birthday was in Ramadan, so legitimately did nothing for my birthday.

I was like 7-8 the last time I celebrated mines and my mom kindly allowed the neighbor kid to celebrate it
along with me, major hint that it was a one off thing

Summer birthdays are generally better. December birthdays are depressing. Last year we had a snow storm on my birthday.

Nope. Never done it as a child.

I remember once having the guts asking my mom if I can have a b-day party and invite my friends and she said like a typical Somali woman would, "that is what gaalos do". Not a big deal; I moved on.

But her friends came to the house weeks later and she brought up my idea and they all started to tease and giggle at me. I went to my room and was so ashamed. I don't know why Somali parents like to humiliate their kids at a very young age.

Growing up, we didn't celebrate birthdays. I hardly even remembered my own birthdays. But If Allah blesses me with Children, i'mma throw a mini party for my child the moment he/she turns one. Up until they reach the age of 18.

I don't care about my birthday. My coworkers took me out for sushi for my b-day recently which I liked but I saw it as a free lunch, not as a b-day celebration.

this is kufaar activities... reconsider. it's wrong.. it won't be long before this becomes a bid'ah in our religion this is how things start slowly and surely others will follow you....

Whats wrong with remembering ones birthday? I see nothing wrong in celebration birth, i mean you've been blessed with life.
Take good things, and leave the bad. Thats how i see it.

Last birthday I celebrated was my 18. My cousins who were older than me took me to a strip club, I refused at first but they wouldn't let it slide, I found out how much strippers love drinking courvousy and henny
:ahh:

the prophet (saw) did not do such a thing we should avoid it we should not imitate the kufaar this is what the Christians in the West do not even the Latin American and African Christians do this this is corrupt western culture
