Do you think we need more sex education?

Don’t laugh but I’m sure most of you have noticed that somalis don’t really teach their kids about sex or puberty or anything like that, they just kinda let you figure it out ok your own. This leads to problems later on because kids seek out information from questionable sources like p*rn or their other friends.

Why is it so taboo to educate about these things? Somalis be popping out 10 kids in a row but can’t even tell their kids how children are born lol I find that kinda funny. Even in dugsi we’d never hear about any of it

are you telling me if your parents gave you the green light you wouldn’t hesitate to teach your younger siblings about sex ed and not feel uncomfortable then you’re most likely lying.

There’s taboo regarding anything related to sex in almost all cultures. Even western cultures are still trying to radically remove it.

Yes but that wasn’t until I was much older (14). Also a lot of my somali friends didn’t take part in the class (parents had to sign a permission slip) but I did.

14 isn’t an old age to learn it, it’s actually a good age. I don’t think 12 year olds are out here having unprotected sex, and if they are there are more problems at hand than just sex education.

I’m not saying anything explicit or in depth i get it it’s awkward but letting your kids figure it out on their own is way way worse for them

Not more sex than it also is changes that come with puberty and 14 is a bit late, for girls at least. There were a lot of Somali kids that weren’t allowed to take that class too

Should be mandatory but only for older kids. I’d say 15-16 is a good age to teach sex education.

I think 12 is the right age, not more so about sex, 15-16 is a good time for that. But about changes that come with puberty and what not

Keeping children innocent is the reason why teen pregnancies happen. Teens will be horny it's the way it's always been. Teach em sex education simples. Sex education covers a whole of things from puberty and explaining to them how their hormones will change etc... It ain't always about putting a condom on a banana.

The U.S has mandatory sex education at a young age currently and look at it's current situation and abortion situation. In the state of New York, more black babies are being aborted then born every year. Their are no morals.
