I know one of the president of the federation got remvoed couple of years ago due to stealing the funds but how is it now? is the fun's going to the team and the sporting facility. We did a small improvement in 2019 when we made history against Zimbabwe which showed optimism but after that the team went pretty much downhill. Can you imagine from that day on (2019) till now if the funds went through and they recruited many talents, can you imagine how our football team would be today? I bet the ocean stars would have been as good as perhaps Cameroon, Ivory Coast and the likes. Please keep me updated on the national team. I would love to see Ocean stars compete in elite competitions and win. At least before i die lool

Yes that's what i remember. I think investment into sports can help restore national pride and bring Somalis together more.
I remember reading what the Kacaan government did was invest heavily into women and mens sports, as a way to bring somalis together across regional and clan lines. They had stadiums and sports team across all the major towns and organized inter-regional games between various sports teams. Stuff like that will foster civic pride and cohesion.
Another thing it will do is have an indirect economic growth because people visiting, coming to sports venues, fields and stadiums will spend money on local businesses, hotels, restaurants, and transportation service, the increased traffic it creates will boost local economies.
See how many American states and cities are organized around regional sports teams, it is a major attraction and it gives people from those areas some type of local identity.
It would be cool if Somalis revive the old regional football/soccer teams, with their names, logos, uniforms and history.

The current president is a guy called Ali Shiine. He’s literally the bare minimum you can ask for in a president. Massively incompetent but unlike the old guy isn’t going to steal all the money. We haven’t played any games since June though
Somalia rebuilt Mogadishu Stadium pretty recently. But it can’t host international games, I’m not sure if it’s even a ranked stadium. We currently play our home games in Morocco.
2019 was ironically the last time we actually had a qualified coach for the national team and look what happened. Probably our best international year ever lol.
Our future talents are coming along though, they are much better than the first team. Since 2022 we have beaten Ethiopia, Uganda, South Sudan, Sudan all in youth football. The U17 East African cup starts again next month where we can defend our title. This will show us if we are for real or we lucked out in 2022
Slow down Cameroon and Ivory Coast are usually world cup locks. If we brought in the very best diaspora we’d be around 30-40 range in Africa. With opportunity to sneak into an AFCON maybe once every couple of editions.
Don’t worry about national team updates. They should be playing lots of games next year so we’ll be hearing about them more. They’re on the lookout for a new coach for March games. The Arab Cup is probably our best chance of reaching a tournament tbh
Thanks for the info. I would love for us to qualify for afcons this will bring all of us together especially the younger generation like it did in 2019 it will make them more prider in their ethnicity. The government should honestly prioritise in football much more since it can unite qabils from what I seen.
