As the political instability and crisis in the Persian Gulf grows, there are genuine fears that regional politics could have even more of a crippling impact on the countries in the Horn of Africa. Could the worrying disputes between different power blocs play out in a wider reaching conflict? The Somali federal government has been put in a difficult position. It owes allegiance to Qatar and Turkey, but its key trading partners, Saudi Arabia and the UAE, are on the other side of the Persian Gulf divide.
