Due to SSC-Khatumo sanctions, Togdheer’s economy is in dire straits

SSC-Khatumo has been enjoying declining price levels now that demand from Somaliland for koonfur’s fruits & vegetables is zero.

Meanwhile in Togdheer, times are tough.

This is not true, Somaliland gets much cheaper produce from Ethiopia than Somalia, but the Ministry of Agriculture imposed 500% tax on khat + fruits and veg imports from Ethiopia to allow Somalilander farmers to compete:

Reality on the ground in laascanood is not good. This leaked clip by the highest garaad from laascanood gives a glimpse of the severe hardship faced by people from laascanood now that Somaliland is no longer subsidising that area, he is begging the diaspora for handouts because ssc soldiers are deserting their posts en masse due to starvation:

normal everyday people in laascaanood are hurting real bad right now:

"Dheregba SLand baa noogudambeysey"

Its quite sad to seeing a group of people who were brainwashed by others into destroying their city and alienating the only government to ever show interest in investing in their city.

Cost of living in Sool jumped last month and are now again the highest in the country.

I'll spare you the full breakdown.

Kulaha normal everyday people. Post a sourced video like OP's instead of an edited clip where we have no idea who these half naked guys are.

Secondly, the SL administration has been a disaster for the Sool region. Laascaanood's development has stagnated. The region has received little humanitarian aid and development projects compared to other regions in Somalia since SL turned the area into a militarized disputed zone and scared off international organizations.

An unverified audio clip and an edited video of random masaakiin whose locations and dates are unknown. After one year of straight Ls, the SL propaganda machine is getting desperate. :mjlol:

People along the highway in Woqoyie Galbeed are complaining of a massive decline in business due to the sanctions imposed by SSC-Khatumo state gov. The end of commerce and movement is causing a lot of economic damage to Somaliland.

What happened to the decoupling theory? It's decoupling alright but not in a good way.

The video is 100% verified, here is one of the biggest Dhulbahante youtubers confirming it and stating they caught the mole in the Jaamac Siyaad whatsapp group:

The biggest garaad of laascanood begging for money on whatsapp and stating that soldiers are deserting their posts due to starvation is really embarrassing.

Reality in laascanood is not good no matter what they claim in public. They are begging their diaspora for cash in their private whatsapp groups.

If you guys listen to the whole clip he is saying the tax collected in laascanood is too little and used up completely by firdhiye.

What happened to the decoupling theory? It's decoupling alright but not in a good way.

To see a trend, you must consider all points since the relevant event not the month to month fluctuations.

Food prices since Dec 2022:
Sool down by 10%
Togdheer & Woqoyie Galbeed up by 7% and 12%

All prices (food & non-food) since Dec 2022:
Sool up by 2%
Togdheer & Woqoyie Galbeed up by 20% and 22%

That is without a doubt proof that prices in Sool are fully decoupled from those in Togdheer & Woqoyie Galbeed. The difference in inflation of food prices and in all prices is similar, between 17% and 20%.

Average person in Isaaqland has lost 1/5 of their ability to consume in the past 18 months.
Average person in Sool has lost 1/50 of their ability to consume in the past 18 months.
Massive difference in how much damage the conflict has caused.

SSC is an unrecognised state which is in its infancy and does not have ports etc to rely on. They also have to spend heavily on weaponry as the khat-chewing barbarian hoards are gathering on the border. These kinds of struggles (if true) are normal and should actually be expected.

You are forgetting Isaaqs had a huge civil war a few years after SL was founded. Other clans like Gadabursi helped them not make each other extinct. The president Tuur was exiled from his own territory.None of the current struggles facing SSC mean the SL militias and their henchmen was better or the people want them back (not that they ever did anyway).

Your reply actually supports what I am saying, ssc is not viable because it has no ports or ways to generate enough tax, which is what the leaked garaad message confirms and why he had to beg his diaspora for such a small sum like $10,000 per month.

Somaliland's civil war was mainly fought around resources like Berbera, and eventually these resources came under government control. Landlocked ssc does not possess anything close to that.

Laascaanood saw the most development in its history under Somaliland, now that they no longer get Somaliland subsidies their leaders are getting creative with how they generate their income.

Again, it’s early days, they just come out of war and are about to enter another one. If they can get creative and be recognised by the Somali gov there is no reason see the project as a failure.

As for Laascaanoods development, you are exaggerating and this argument about the separatists and their local allies turning LA into a economic miracle city has been refuted many times before…..a few of those projects are from UN funds or private citizens pooling together . Laascaanood would have naturally developed with or without the separatist being in control of the city. Many influential intellectuals and business men actually fled Laascaanood during that time due to assassinations and the failure of the security forces. In the end, the separatist project in Laascaanood turned into a failed, cruel regime heavily relying on repression with little benefits. The separatist regime had to go……what they replace it is about to the locals….No one in Hargeysa will have a say on this matter.

In another installment of lies, damn lies and statistics:

All prices since Aug 2023 (end of conflict phase).

Sool up 12%
Togdheer down 0.5%
WG up 3 %

Did SSc impose sanctions on themselves?

At the end of the day, Sool region is roughly where it was in Dec 2022 while Somaliland is 20% poorer. That is a fact.

The past 18 months have been worse for Isaaq, than for Dhulbahante. More dead, more captured, and more poverty.
