It's definitely him and China XI in the race as pound for pound the most shrewd and calculated politicians in the globe.
Putin(his cards are kinda well known as he loved the soviets and everyone knows soviet game.plan).
This dude does nothing but either proxy wars to establish his local winner across countries he deems important in primary resources and maritime routes and security locations. He doesn't want to rob it but make a phone call to his puppet to do this and that to the west(his enemy) its called a sphere of influence well why? duhh u influence the leader there to harm who you deem a threat.
So he his definitely Targetting Africa and Mid east but don't expect much other then that. But don't expect much but alot of bloodshed to get his geopolitical goals, those guys aren't great at diplomacy.
As for China their little bit more shrewd and win win orientated but never do anything if it isn't transactional, wants to secure its primary resources for its economy, especially raw materials of its factories. If some other global power is there it can be used to harm China or force it to cede its interests plus they also want friendly relations at all time in the hope it can lead to their companies being selected for projects and also natural resources.
America with all respect they inherited a brutal architecture by their forebears but post cold war till now is stuck in theatrics and acting which I don't think will save them, as we saw China already is wiping the floor with them in business. But don't under estimate them as they got a large military foot print presence globally, they have brutal instruments like embargo, business sanctions, has IMF and World Bank ensuring to red flag or give green light to who can nation build and who cannot another leverage instrument. They also benefit from.finacially from their excess goods or funds(aid with influence) and park a assign and allocate big pool of funds as foreign aid as an influence instrument but can be weaponized for leverage.
But that's the present world and nothing in the world remains stagnant, empires do fall(usually due to incompetent leaders following great founders). But if you had to bet the future empire, you can't overlook I'd Erdogan or XI.
