So a lot if people use this word to mean origins or ethnic makeup but when I asked my fams about it they said it meant Madow

I'm serious they said it's another word for Madow people. I'm light skinned, turmeric kind of colour.

Sounds like it stems from the arabic word "zanji", which means slave. Arab slavers probably coined the term from the colony of Zanzibar(Tanzania) which was a big supplier.

I lived quite a while in the M.East so thats where i picked it up, I never heard it used tho, its a pretty old word. But i remeber always reading it in the subtitles of american movies when they say "nigga" so i thought it meant the same thing

sinji means basically your asal which means origins .
