I've actually changed my stance on the secessionist outlook that the somalilanders endorse. Somaliland is more likely to prosper with full unadulterated autonomy as a free state in East Africa. Greater Somalia is dead.

Greater Somalia was a British invention to try and build a unified Somalia. However, as we know, the Brits fucked up by selling the land to Ethiopia.

All countries are inventions at some point. That's the point of nationalism. To unify all the people of a nation into one state. Just because all the territories that Somalis live in have never been unified, doesn't mean that they shouldn't be unified.
