This fighting style has no martial might. They’re really going for the “art” part of it, since it looks so useless.

The Somalis from there just call themselves Somali. Feels like they are pretty isolated from the rest of that country or wherever I'm from felt like that. I just say I'm Somali from Somalia.

Somalis are alienated from the Ethiopian identity, Ethiopians themselves don’t see Somalis as a part of it

We have maintained a strong cultural and national identity that is rooted in our language, religion, clan system, and historical experiences. These factors, coupled with historical grievances and geopolitical tensions, have created a sense of separateness from Ethiopia. Rather than living in SR viewing themselves as Ethiopian, Somalis in Western Somali often see themselves as part of the broader Somali nation, striving for greater autonomy or unity with other Somali-inhabited regions.

Unlike the Oromo who leeched onto the broader Ethiopian sociopolitical identity, they've assimilated so many groups that they can't separate their identity from Ethiopia without having internal separation from factions who have differing opinions.

Yup yup. Even in terms of education it was all in Somali. But to be accredited they force you to learn Amharic but I never cared. My school made more of an emphasis on education being in Somali and sometimes it was in Arabic/English. And yeah due to historical grievances and present day stuff the Somalis there want nothing to do with that country.
