do you feel pressure to pitch and take part in ritual and religious practice even when you no longer belief. while you finally tell you family and risk being ostracized from the community.

kind of sad, but what are going to do. islam is big part of our culture, for heaven sakes, we pray with family atleast twice a day. it either stay way from somali gathering and family functions or put up with living a double life for fear of the reaction you would get from family.

but your the exception to the rule, didn't you say that your family was not that religious to begin with, any way i don't think that is an atheist witch hunt and preacher are writing sermons denouncing atheistism among somali youths, since atheist somalis are very small and are not very vocal expect online. the only openly atheist is the lady from England.

and where is you statistics, you have research from pew and other credible sources. the fact is that we left somalia with 99.99% muslims and we are still loyal to islam probable the number of muslim is 98% now. so much for you double figures.

as for Saudi Arabia, the only reason is that they execute apostate so it would be suicide to leave islam. they have the largest secret police they spy on their people in public, in private and in cyberspace. how would cross the Al-Saudi, no body in this day an age people believes in martyrdom, especially not the people of the kingdom in the closet.

And you worthless dogs will forever be the black sheep of our community. Where I'm from, being an Atheist is pretty much a disqualifier in terms of getting married, forming close friendships, and otherwise being a trusted member of the community.

Even the drug-dealing, alcohol-sipping, pill-popping Somali guys believe in Allah. Even they still have some sort of relationship with their Creator. Yet you Atheists are even lower than them and wallahi I'd prefer my sister or niece or daughter to marry a Somali Muslim guy with a criminal record over some established and well-educated Atheist. I've posed this question to numerous friends and acquaintances and they've all unanimously agreed with me.
