Former ambassador: Somalia needs a new capital

I’m surprised he said this publically former ambassador to South Sudan dude even said unuka leh he said we need a new capital

imo xamar is the best option we have for a capital I can’t think of a more viable location

I agree with him 💯

People of Xamar literally believe that Somalia = Xamar and they believe that only reer Unake leh should be President.

All that badbaado qaran crap happened to Farmaajo because of the demographics of Xamar.

Somalia should have virtual capital. Would save a lot of us cost and travel expenses. Let all the meeting be done through zoom . People barely attend meetings because of xamar now no more execuses.

It's already a virtual country might as well have a virtual capital

Ambassador is tweaking, man said our only problem is the location of the capital.

The reason for ”unuka lehhism” is lack of political represantation. Once Banaadir becomes a city state, all will be fine.

What’s the lack of representation that the people of xamar are facing explain I’m not that knowledgeable

Banaadir is home to over 3 million and its not a state. It does not vote its own politicians in place. The population basically don’t get their voices heard.

Making it a state will diminish Xamars importance, which frankly, I have never understood why its important. Once Xamar becomes a state, it will just function as an administrative place for the country.

This means that the populace won’t care who leads the country because they can choose their own people. Badbaado Qaran part 2 is not gonna happen. Whomever can be president and won’t be held ”back” due to not being Hawiye.

This is what people need to understand.

Just keep the capitol at xamar

it will take years and years for the government to move all the institutions to a new city and they currently don’t have the money required to do this

look how long it took for Tanzania to move to Dodoma
Not really can't be compared as lot of the instutions in xamar has crumbled over the years , plus now with federalism certain city's or states already have these instutions.

Xamar has bad history .

I agree with camey, we can't resuscitate Mogadishu even tho we all tried and stretching for 20 years, sometimes you just need to let nature take its course and have it become like GM and HS. Trust me it will be even worse then those areas once Somalis pull out because look at GM and HS, their homelands with no national involvement, just down to hawiyenimo. That's why I always say hawiyenimo is a poison and cancer not only effecting Somalis but the biggest victims are hawiye themselves. Hawiyenimo isnt s pot shot at the people either it's all these idiots running around with aideedism in their hearts and minds yet they suffer the most always.

But as for the capital I don't care where is selected, what I do care about is the process used to select it. I think we need a criteria set up which then is ranked and scored rather then everyone just turning it into some clan race and irrelevant things. The process and criteria needs to be agreed on by all stakeholders tho so they can't refuse the result later on who scored the best.

The criteria should include some of the following factors.

1. Social unity and diversity of the town or surrounding region, a somewhat clan balance
2. A Well respected Isimo who are active and competent who can serve as a social check and balance
3. Geography, Climate, Location
4. Security(internally and externally)

Maybe other criteria can be added also.

That's just a start and then each one is given a weight and then each city is graded on that score before a final score is generated and the town with the highest final score wins. Their is no perfect town or city or region in Somalia, so let's not go into false expectation, what's being measured is whose better and worse not where is perfect(false Somali hope).

But Somalis fear a process or law or anything where things are measured which is ironic they hold a belief that god measure them for even the smallest deeds, but they don't wanna live in a world of nidaam and accountability that's a huge contradiction and puts to question if your really even followers of Islam or just crypto muslims. While wanting to like an Ali beesteen or b22n(pagan) type of lawlessness.
