Garacad port causing issues

They invested into a port hoping to become a competitor to Berbera in a bid to steer business away from Somaliland. But they miserably failed because they don’t even have a proper coastal defence mechanisms in place to separate land from sea :damn:

In the report by BBC, it notes a significant threat to human inhabitants in that area because the sea water is blocking fresh water sources for people and livestock during high tide which is crazy :dead:

To call that place a port is a joke and insult to all ports out there
Is it an insult to the Abgaal port of Ceel Macaan?

Was millions of dollars poured into ceel macaan for it to be blocking up water sources? It was temporary and it still done it’s job. Humans still had fresh water for our livestock and didn’t have it clogged up like yours.

For god sake if you want to build a permanent functioning port at least make sure the basics are built properly :drakewtf: :russ:

Pray for it to be useless as you've been wishing since 2018.

garcad Port Will be taking over the routes qoraxay wardheer all the way to oroma via fiiq
You will see constant laments from certain people in the south & SL before the port is finished, imagine what will they do when the port is finished and the road between Garacad & Galdogob is completed.

I don’t why the hate, more ports = more opportunities to develop the country.

This is suugo science, how is the port causing this, new people who don't know ebb and flow of the sea.

:nvjpqts::nvjpqts:

People here don't understand how water table works. The only thing was done to built the port was to create enough foundation in the seabed that could sustain both the top layers, the load on them, and the weight of the ships who would dock at the port. There is seriously no explanation at how building those foundations can interfere with the water table.

The Turkey firm that built the port was a bit pricey for their work, but they sure did built solid foundations and covered all of the basics. It would've been worrisome had the contract been given to a Chinese who would've done the work on much cheaper rate but the work they would do would've been worrisome as other African countries experienced.

We should understand that a geophysics study was carried out by a geologist who hails from the area, and it was he who concluded the best place to build the port was Garacad. This study was carried out in the 1990s.

The guy giving the interview to bbc is a retard. This is a regular occurrence in garacad and has nothing to do with the port. Same thing happened in 2021 when I was there and the locals said its been happening ever year since the tsunami in 2004. It usually happens around this time of the year too

Let me be so bold as to ask: how many of you visited, or are familiar with the area? None I suppose. Well, let me say the following, lest some of you further make complete arses of yourselves, neither the port nor the town are under a threat.

There is an area about a couple of miles away from the city where the ocean rises ocassionly., and at times of rising floods like the tSunami.

Natives are very familiar with the tide turning and know what to do whereas recent comers, like the gent speaking, are sounding the alarm, as some bought land right at the cusp, and on the shore line, and are learning the hardway what not to do. For some, this is the first time they set eyes on sea body of water, and have even come nigh close to tasting the water. This is not the calm Red Sea, but the roaring Indian ocean. Enough said. Moving along.
